Just want to know how often people mop their laminate flooring or how often you should? also what with?
I currently mop my laminate flooring and tiled flooring around every 2-3 days sometimes more often, i use hot water with either all purpose cleaner or floor cleaner, and every now and then i use diluted bleach but i dont use bleach too often.

use the floor "WIPE" type mop as they dont hold any water but contain all the cleaning stuff

use the strongest anti-bacteria available . try to mop up at the end of the day and keep the bugs at bay.

You don’t. Excess water will get in-between the cracks and damage it from the bottom up. You have to spray a light cleaner on it and immediately follow with a dry dust mop. I have been doing it this way for years, at the recommendation of the installer.

Theres no right or wrongs… if you have kids you’ll probably be mopping everyday lol
There is a laminate floor cleaner in stores for the job though.

Dry mop-every day damp mop once a week then non slip polish once a month bleach is a bad idea

I dont like the stuff.. the reason being as you have just explained.. too much hard work!

I very rarely mop mine, I usually vacuum it every day and clear up spills with a damp cloth as soon as they happen. When I do mop it I use a special laminated floor cleaner which you can buy in supermarkets and then dry it straight away.

omg, omg, omg! Stop!!! Get the special floor cleaner otherwise it’ll start to lift and delaminate!

excess water can get in the gaps and damage the floor… having said that i do mop mine but i use a spray cleaner made for laminate floors, only cost around a quid for wilkos homebrand and works a treat.
if you have to use a mop and bucket make sure the mop is wringed out well and doesnt leave the floor soaking wet, if it does wipe up the excess water with a tea-towel.

    happy cleaning!

I have 3 children so it needs mopping daily with those anti-bacterial floor wipes. Once or twice a week i get down on my hands and knees and give it a proper clean .. lol

dont use water, can cause wood to warp, and bleach will discolour, i use a flash power mop, found at most stores, ideal for laminate floors

hi we brush and mop our floor everyday when you have two small kids its a must.

  • whipass chick says:

    yeah, same as you!

  • snowhugs says:

I either hoover or dry dust my laminate daily, i use a special cleaner when i need to , due to havinga dog and a muddy back garden when it rains. You should make sure the cloth or tool you use to wash your floor is very dry or it can cause your laminate to swell and ruin

  • Heather mk2 says:

I have real wood and I do it a couple of times a week with pledge soapy wood cleaner, smells lovely and leaves a nice shine!

I hear what people are saying about the water and that is relevent with laminate as it is easily warped but as long as you mop is well wrung and you aren’t soaking the floor you’ll be fine!

You can keep your laminate flooring cleaner and free from scratchmarks if you always take your shoes off at the door.
