Hello friends, i am a 16 yr old boy. I like making friends. However, when i speak on the phone with a girl i don’t talk much and people feel i am quite shy. I don’t know how to talk to girls freely and openly because i was in a boy’s school till 10th std. Please help me out!

Okay over coming shyness takes work, first when on the phone ask questions and when they respond listen and talk about some response. You have to change your mind set, force yourself to talk to people you wouldn’t usually talk to.. just talk about anything and keep practicing… Just remember that no matter what your not going to die if you say something stupid you maybe embarrassed but that passes..

First off…who cares what people think. Don’t take on labels that people give you as who you are. Secondly…The girls you’re talking to probably just want to get to know you better…so BE YOURSELF! Pretend you’re talking to a relative or someone you already know until you get comfortable. Don’t focus on yourself so much…listen to what she’s saying…then respond. Don’t be so nervous…girls are just people too :P

Let the girls do the talking. For some reason the coolest girls can always detect a good dude trying to get out and they will always be patient with you. If anything just practice at being a good listener. What this means is that at some point you will naturally respond with something interesting to say. Pretend that your new friend who is a girl is just that- a good friend. Treat her like you would any other kid except maybe ask her a few questions about her family. Even ask her if she thinks you are a dork because you have trouble talking to girls. Ah’, maybe not. Like I said, if she’s cool she’ll give you a break. I know because I was in your spot once. I hated that nervous energy. I swear I was the most frozen kid in the world when it came to being relaxed. My buddies basically through girls at me when I was least prepared and they would laugh at me. Then one day a buddy told a girl that I was funny and had a great sense of humor. At first I was upset, but soon realized he did me a favor. It seemed like everything I said to this cute redhead, she laughed at. Man was I in there I thought. But then it wasn’t long before I began to understand that women are so different than guys mentally. It’s almost like we are in two different planets really. This is a good thing to know when you are trying to think of what a girl might like to talk about. You’ll know right away that there is a whole realm of answers from the male perspective that she’ll not be conscious of contributing. That’s where you come in. See? It’s really pretty easy. Talk to your mom or your sister about girls. You’d be surprised at what they know.
