How much trouble/money is it to restore an old muscle car?

So yes, I have been watching all of the fast and the furious series, and yes I would LOVE to be able to restore a muscle car like the protagonist did in Tokyo drift, and like Logan and Brian won in the street race in 2 fast 2 furious.

I am just wondering how much it usually costs to restore like old mustangs/novas/camaros…etc and how difficult it is to get parts.

Thanks!

Lots and lots. It all depends what you want out of the car. do you want it for a daily driver, a show car, a trailer queen? These are some of the things that will have to be thought before you even start. Parts for these are fairly easy to acquire as they are not that old. Now finding someone to work on this old iron stock is another thing.

Easy to work on but expensive to do it, However it is worth the money!!
Go to a 7-11 store & buy a Car Traders mag. to see some prices of running cars & parts source.
Believe it or not but a lot of the parts are still carried by the new car dealers.
    Good Lick!

The cost depends on the condition of the car when you start the process and the level of restoration done. Parts for Mustangs and Camaros are easy to find and prices vary on whether you are using NOS or reproduction. There are numerous sources of both.

It all depends on how much of the work you are willing to do yourself and how far you want to take the restoration.

A complete Frame off restoration to get the car back to showroom stock condition will take years and tens of thousands of dollars. It is a true labor of love because it is not profitable unless you can do the work yourself.

If you just want to repaint the car, hide the rust and give it a tune up it won’t be that much to invest in it but you won’t be adding any value to the car and the work won’t last very long so it’s like wasting money because the work won’ t be permanent.

You would be better off and it would be cheaper to just buy a car already restored.

Deal is how much money do you have and to what level you want to take it and what are your capabilities to do this ..the less you have the more it costs ..
