How do you remove a yoke from a sewing pattern?

I am trying to make a cloak/robe for my harry potter costume but the pattern that i have has a yoke in it. It is the 5840 Simplicity pattern if that helps. I want to modify it so it doesn’t have a yoke in it because it doesn’t in the movie. Anyone have a tutorial on how to remove a yoke from a pattern?

When you lay out the pattern tissue, tape the yoke to the robe with the seams overlapping (you will be omitting the seam).

You will then have the length needed without the appearance of the yoke.

This version has a capelet over the shoulders and looks like it could be eliminated.

I looked up the pattern and the way to eliminate the yoke is just to not use that pattern piece. It does not interfere with the cloak or hood. It’s just an add-on piece when you sew the hood and cloak together. Very simple. Probably can get away with 1/2 yard less of fabric as well. Good luck.
