  There is no secret to being a Top Contributor you just have to answer a lot of questions in a category, and receive best answers for them, continue to do that to keep the badge. You can be a Top Contributor at any level, although it might be hard for a level 1 it has been done. You just need to find a category that you like and know a lot about, and answer, answer and more answers in that category. Plus you need quality as well as quantity in all your answers and questions.

  To be a Top Contributor you have to answer questions in 1 - 3 categories and obtain 10% (or more) best answers in that category. The Top Contributor badge is awarded on a Monday and it will disappear on a Monday if you do not continue to contribute to the category that you got the badge.

  You cannot be a Top Contributor in Polls & Surveys or Jokes & Riddles, although you could be the Top Yahoo Answers Answerer for those categories.

  CHECK THIS SECRET OUT!!! One way to become a "Top Contributor" is to first become a "Top Deleter". You become a "Top Deleter" by becoming a "Top Abuse Reporter". You become "Top Abuse Reporter" by pressing the "Report Abuse" button that is located in every "Question & Answer" page in Yahoo!© Answers as much as possible. Reporting abuses [ whether or not they are actual legitimate abuses] "will MOST likely" result in a question and/or answer being "deleted". Can’t find the button? …not to worry! The "Report Abuse" button can be easily located since it has its own conspicuous design with a little blue flag on the left side of the button that turns "red" when your computer mouse cursor hovers over it. Isn’t that cool?? By the way, this button can be seen in every "Answer & Question" page regardless of the page’s phase [Open, In voting, Resolved question, etc.] except when deleted [most likely plotted by a "Top Contributor"]. Anyway, "Report Abuse" as much as possible even if you do not find a question and/or answer offensive. You MIGHT just hit the jackpot($) with most or ALL of your "Abuse Reports" being approved by the Yahoo!© Answers staff as legitimate "abuses". If you manage to get a few "Abuse Reports" to result in "deletions", you can expect your clout to dramatically increase thus becoming closer to your "desirable" goal: "Top Contributor".
