I live in Tokyo, the 2 McDonald’s within 5 minutes walking distance from my house sell Big Macs at ?320 each. OR you can get a Big Mac set (fries and drink) for ?650.
You can L size the fries for an additional ?40 and the drink for an additional ?20.
Please note that prices may vary according to location, but in the part of Tokyo where I live, that is the current price.
?^_^? I just came from there actually.

    According to Labornet Japan(7/15/09):
"Currently, even Japan’s highest minimum hourly wage is 766 yen in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefectures, and the lowest is 627 yen in Miyazaki, Kagoshima and Okinawa Prefectures."

There WAS a Ford dealership near my house, but it closed.
Not popular, so I’ll give you the price of a Toyota Belta:

    ¥1,340,000?¥1,788,500
Although you could go with a Nissan or other maker as well for a reasonable price.

    Hope that helps!

BTW, check out the McD’s Japan menu here:

    ?Hope that helps!?

Big mac index aside, I suggest you forget about the ford. No matter how small. Foreign cars here cost a bomb. And I sympathize, my grandpa owns a ford dealership. But it is prohibitably pricey.

Best to go with a K-car. Small, sturdy and cheap.

Best not to have a car in Tokyo. The public transportation is the best way to get around and is very extensive. Cars are expensive and there’s also horrible horrible rush hour.

As for the big mac, It depends on where you go as some places are cheaper (i.e. the farther from central Tokyo the cheaper it is)…but generally is around Y310-320.
