I would like to dress up as a silent movie star for Halloween. I don’t exactly know how to do this, so is there any advice you could give me? I need to know how to do my make up, hair, clothes ( which I’m planning on going to goodwill or walmart to buy), and accesories. Thanks for your help!

Black eye liner, red lip stick, short curly hair.
Flat chested women were in style and wore long pearl necklaces.
Here’s a couple web sites that you can browse for more details of actual silent movie stars.
as a girl, go as a flapper. a guy would wear a suit with a bow tie and bowler hat and nice shoes
Go as charles chaplin. Just wear a suit (borrow it from some friend), a hat like his’, white gloves and a fake mustache. Paint your face white.
I have studied this period extensively. Everything should be exaggerated. Silent film stars communicated with their eyes and their lips. So, raccoon eyes and dark red lips. And, you have to be conscious of the period. In the 1920’s, women wore shaw’s and were extremely covered. You can go the flapper route, but that was a small segment. Check out Lillian Gish on you tube. Choose an actor or actress as a model.
Mary Pickford had long reddish brown hair in baloney curls . Her dresses were aline and the make up looked like they coated it with Vaseline.
There is charlie chaplin bola hat baggy pants a too shot suit coat and tie or buster keaton. pants suspenders, a white shirt and a panama hat..
Below are some pictures of silent film actresses. Dresses of that era were cut straight so they had a shapeless form. The favored figure was less curvy than many actresses today.
