I have a high metabolism and i’ll be truthful, I probably don’t eat as much as a guy my age (19) should be eating. However, i’ve had enough and I want to change my lifestyle and feel good about myself. I’m just lost as i don’t know how to gain a lot of weight and what to eat, and how much to eat and how much to work out, sets, reps etc.
I want to gain weight and muscle at the same time.
If anyone could help me out i’d really appreciate it, thanks.

oh geez man….. i totally feel you…. im also 19 and im 5′9-5;10 ……………. i have a CRAZY metabolism too..i eat Mcdonalds all day and i have yet to gain any weight. i have to eat like 3-4 meals times a day just to keep my current weight. if i go on for a week with only 1-2 meals a day i will lose weight like crazy!… the last week, when i was really busy with school. i lost 10lbs within a matters of 1-2 weeks. xP…..i used to work at mcdonalds for like half a year, i ate twice everytime i was working. i would always have a big mac and large fries…… i eat sooo much but, i hardly gain any weight. i would go to buffets and eat like 4-5 plates and i wont be satisfied at the end of the day… just yesterday i ate mcdonalds 3 times and we went to the resturant 2 times xP….. all the things i ate. i didnt even gain one pound the next day T_T……… but hey! i do have a tip through all of this non-sense

one way i found was to eat like CRAZY! … like every minute i had i would eat something. it could be fruits, junk food ANYTHING!…….. i did that for like a year and i went from 125 to 145 :) BUT…. at 145.. i AM still TOO SKINNY from what people say -_-…..
but as we speak now, i am 140. :(…… school just really gotten to me. i hope u can gain some weight too! my little brother is like 5′7 and hes 110lbs T_T…….. oh yea! eat meals 3 times a day….if u find some other useful information tell me :) i really want to gain some weight and be at least 150 :)

Use this weightlifting routine as a guide. Use what you think will benefit you, tailoring it as you go.

Do 2-3 exercises/body part at 3 sets of 8-10 reps/exercise w/ 1- 1/2 minute rest in between sets. Try this routine as a guide:

**Legs: Squats, leg curls, leg extensions, calf raises.

**Biceps: Barbell curls, alternating dumbbell curls, concentration curls, preacher curls, hammer curls.

**Triceps: Dips, dumbbell kickbacks, dumbbell extensions, cable press downs.

**Shoulders: Front shoulder press w/ barbell, dumbbell shoulder press, side lateral raises, front raises.

**Chest: Flat bench press, incline bench press, close-grip bench press, dumbbell flyes.

**Back: Lat pull downs, wide-grip pull-ups, close-grip chin-ups, dead lifts, barbell rows.

**Abs: Crunches, bicycle crunches, reverse crunches, side bends or twists.

Start out easy so you don’t get any injuries. Make sure you’re eating at least 5-6 smaller but healthy meals throughout the day that are high in protein to fuel your body and aid in muscle recovery and growth.

Whey protein is one of the best available supplements because it allows muscles to recover faster & is absorbed into the system better. A quality protein bar would be good too. Look for protein products low in fat & sugar content because some will differ.

A formula used to determine how much protein to consume a day is 1-2 grams/lb. of body weight. Ex: You weigh 125 lbs., you would need 125-250 grams of protein/day. The body usually absorbs around 30 grams of protein/serving. The amount of grams of protein/serving vary but this # is a good place to start. Too much protein consumption at one time and the body releases it as waste. You can consume a protein drink a half hour prior to a workout or right after.

I’m 39 and I’ve dealt with this same issue all of my life. It takes a lot of hard work and patience. Do your research on supplements and exercises so you get the most benefit from them.

    Good luck! :D

I would worry more about your diet than your workout. Ok yes, you need to workout at least 3 times a work with adequate resistance but dont spend too much time worrying about perfecting your workout. you need to EAT, eat some more then when your full eat again! and you need to do this every day, at your weight/height you are going to struggle but you need to keep eating. Plan yours meals, aim for at least 5 meals a day and aim for around 3500 calories/day, some people will say this is too much but trust me, your going to need them! if you have to eat a bit of junk food then so be it, and your stats its going to take another 20lbs at least before you can see any noticeable fat.

    good luck!
