    They lived in a temperate rain forest. They could collect nuts and various other plants in the inland area with abundant resources. The rivers also provided thousands of salmon. The coast provided various mussels, water fowl, and whales. Food-wise, it was a paradise. So much so, that they could form complex chiefdoms without advanced agriculture.
