What would you do if your child threw a fit over birthday presents?

We were at a party today and the little 6 year old boy who was celebrating his birthday threw a fit when he opened his presents and was dissatisfied with what he received. He then stated it was his worst birthday ever. What would you do if your child threw a fit in front of people over the gifts they received and said that?

First I would make sure that my child had a good nap before a party starts- but if that happened to me I would take the presents and give them back to the people who brought them- and send every one home, then I would take the cake throw it in the trash and clean up the place. I would send my child to his room for a time out and then go into his room and talk with him about that- that is unacceptable and I would never give him a party with friends until he is old enough to appreciate what we are doing.
