How far will my future optoma hd65 have to be to fit a 106×60 inch screen?

I don’t know if anyone has the same projector with the same size screen, but if anyone does it would be appreciated if you can tell me how far the projector is from the screen.

The Optoma HD65 720p DLP Home Theater Projector is a very good projector for what it offers, especially within its price range.
According to ProjectorCentral’s Projection Calculator Pro results for the Optoma HD65 projector your throw distance for a 16:9, 122-inch (106 inch × 60 inch) screen is 14 feet 4 inches plus or minus 8 inches depending on your lens zoom setting. Using Optoma’s ultra-basic Distance Calculator to verify the ProjectorCentral calculator results I obtained a Projection Distance of 13.7 ft - 15.1 ft (4.19 m - 4.59 m) with a Vertical Offset of 11.4 in. That said however there are some very important caveats worth mentioning.
The big problem you run into when matching that specific projector to a 122-inch (106-inch × 60-inch) screen is that you will need to utilize a very high gain screen (which invariably results in hot-spotting and poor off-axis image quality,) in order to achieve acceptable image brightness. Using a close-to-ideal screen gain of 1.0 you would obtain an image brightness of approximately 18 fL with your projector configured for maximum light output! (Please keep in mind that the real-world light output is in the neighborhood of roughly 40 percent of the rated maximum light output; still an impressive number for such a small, inexpensive home theater projector.) If you have any ambient light in your room 18 fL will result poor image quality. To compound the image brightness problem, by constantly running a projector at its maximum operating settings you will incur shorter lamp life, greater cooling fan noise and maximum power consumption.
Ignoring the aforementioned issues for a moment, you also run the risk of increasing the visibility of picture structure as well as image artifacts. This is another reason why I recommend against using such a large screen for a 1280×720p image unless you plan on sitting no less than roughly 20 feet back from the screen (assuming you have fairly normal visual acuity.)
I strongly recommend that you reconsider your choices if you value image quality to any significant degree. Assuming reasonably good ambient light control and therefore dark viewing conditions… after proper set-up and optimization using the projector’s Cinema mode I recommend pairing the Optoma HD65 with a 16:9 screen no larger than 94 to 106 inches (diagonally), having a peak screen gain no higher than 1.0 to 1.3, respectively. However if you will be the only person viewing your screen (on axis) most of the time then you would likely be satisfied if you chose a higher-gain screen such as the popular Da-Lite High Power. It’s important to remember that when it comes to video projection systems the darker the room the better.
