How do I change a horizontal picture to a vertical one on a Mac?

I am making a collage for my boyfriend and two of the slots are vertical 4×6. We don’t have many vertical pics together and I want to make some of my horizontal ones vertical. Does anyone know how to do this on a Mac? I use iPhoto and other programs, so whatever anyone knows will work for me!
