How much longer can we continue to spend without thought to the cost?

This isn’t a question aimed specifically at democrats or republicans, liberals or conservatives. I want everyone’s opinions. How much longer do you believe our country can handle the monetary hemorrhaging that is going on?

With so much debt, an economy in shambles, a high unemployment rate and now this health care reform adding more debt, how much longer can we continue?

What will break us? How can we get ourselves out of this mess? What will happen if we don’t stop the spending?

Not much longer. We’re going to have to do some serious cutting the budget to get out of these woods, and unless we do this country will inevitably face bankruptcy.

It’s really really unfortunate that people believe voting Republican is going to solve the problem. Because it’s not. Republicans and Democrats are the problems.

Just look at the past 20 years and see just how useful and productive either party has been. They haven’t, they’ve been the exact opposite constantly creating more problems than they solve.

If this country is going to change we can’t just vote out one big government loving bureaucrat and trade in another — America has to change. And if we don’t the only thing that will change America is bankruptcy.

yes, we should only go into debt while fighting dubious and probably illegal wars!

If we don’t stop spending we are going to lose our triple A credit rating. That will REALLY mess us up. We could possibly kill the dollar and things will get super bad.

    No longer.

Ask Cheney hes the one that said deficits don’t matter.

We don’t know where the breaking point will come. The Dems’ plan is obviously to raise taxes after passing the rest of their agenda, but that will drag down the economy. Count on things to get worse.

when Chinese stop buying our treasury bills…just like that, we stop function.

We passed that point a long time ago.
When trade was deregulated we could no longer afford our super power status.
The reality of Reaganomics that just starting to sink in?

You’d be surprised just how long. The effects haven’t even begun to be felt.

I think we’re beyond this question mattering. The rest of the world is dumping our dollar for more secure forms of currency, the dollar will become worthless.

until this happens. WW2 happened because of it.

    According to the Dems, FOREVER.

I think you SHOULD aim this question at the democrats. They’re the ones with control of the printing press….

Except for the unemployment rate, a lot of your question is the exact description of the new United States at the end of the Revolutionary War. The one difference is that at the end of that war, the Continental Dollar was worthless and the US had a credit rating of 0 and could no longer borrow money from other nations. It took 2 generations (40 years) to pay off that debt but I think it was worth it. I’m happy that those who argued against breaking ties with Britain because of the costs involved lost the argument, aren’t you?

What will keep us going is the same thing that kept them going 234 years ago: belief in the country’s ability to dig itself out and keep going. If you’re going to give up, get out of our way. The rest of us have work to do.
