What is the purpose of writing college admissions essay?

I have to do this essay for admissions, which is for my Bachelor degree in Business. I was just wondering why is this important, and what does an admissions essay consists of? Does it need an introduction in the beginning, or should I just answer the questions listed in essay format? This is hard and my first time?

You should do a simple introduction. It should be an essay that answers all the questions, but not just a list of all the answers. It’s important because it gives the admissions people a better idea of who you are and what you bring to the table, so they can decide who does and does not make the cut for admission
