How much hand to hand combat do they teach in basic training in the Army? What do they do? How long?

Usually if your lucky you will get a few hours over the course of a day or two, not much really.
They only teach you for about a day and they go over simple grabs and flips. So not very much. Maybe more if you are going into an infintry MOS.
Never enough.
So be sure to learn even more than they teach.
But seriously.
There are several schools of thought on the nature of hand to hand.
One says in the dark fighting an enemy hand to hand it’s best to know what moves your own side knows best. That way you’ll shoot / stab less of your own, thinking your side has no "fighting style".
About a day, or part of a day. You will forget it all by the next week anyways. It’s Just to kind of give you a taste. If you get into an infantry battalion they will probably have combatives once a week.
About 3 days and Its not to complex
