How to tell the difference between male and female hamsters?

I know how to tell when they are older, but I’ve never really checked the ones at the pet store thay are still young! Is it still just as easy to tell? By the way, I’m getting a Syrian for the purpose that it is easier to tell. If it ISNT the same, please give me some tips on how to tell at a young age.
By the way, NO I am not getting two and housing them together! I want to get a BOY hamster and I’m just making sure (:

If you carefully turn your hamster on to its back, you will notice between the back legs two openings. If these are very close together and almost look like one then you have a female. You may also be able to see two rows of teats. If the two openings are about 5 to 10 mm apart, your hamster is a male. On the males you may also be able to see an extra bulge around the tail.
