My wife doesn’t know how to drive and she drove over some sod that was freshly laid. How do I repair it?

Pull up the smashed pieces of sod carefully and move it out of the way. Then, loosen up the packed soil underneath and level it out. Use the back of a rake to level the soil. Then, lay the sod back down and rake it gently, with the rake, to lift the grass blades back up and water the whole area well. It should be fine then. Sod is tough, it is the dip in the lawn from the overly compacted soil that would be cosmetically unattractive. It is actually good to gently walk on the sod to force out air pockets so the grass roots get set well into the soil, but cars are a little to heavy. (smile)
We had a drunk drive through the whole side of our yard over 100 ft. just a few months after we had sod installed. We also just had our first freeze, so we got very lucky. He just flattened the frozen grass and didn’t leave sunken tire tracks. I was really worried until I got a closer look.
