    for an ipod you shouldn’t have to worry about that. I had the ipod earphones with my 2G touch and they went quiet in one ear after about 1-2 months. so now i have in ear Sony earphones that are ridiculously good quaility and have great bass, noise isolating and cost about $80 AUD. just buy anything from sony, most reliable. my last ones lasted me for about 4-5 years :)
