How to I get rid of fleas and reduce bite swelling?

Even though our cats are frontlined and therefore should be protected from fleas we still seem to have them. We’re keeping our cats out for the time being and we’ve de-flea’d the whole house with over the counter flea control. However a few days later I’ve still found a few new bites. Any advice on how I can reduce the swelling and how I can finally get rid of these annoying things.
Thanks people. I’ve already cracked on to the antihistamine which has helped the itching, anything to help the actual appearance?

The reaction to the bites in humans can be damped down with any oral antihistamine. If you have not cleared the fleas completely from the house they may remain dormant, hatching gradually over 6-12 months so it is essential to keep your cats treated on an ongoing basis or they will become reinfected and start the cycle again.
If you go to a pet shop, there is a product on the market which you use once a month on a cat or dog, and there will be no more fleas. Glad I dont visit your house, making me itch to think about it!
