Someone else posted this two link earlier on another question. I think it should answer a lot, though certainly not all, of your questions.

One link to start with, though I believe this one is written as to be ridiculously oversimplified:

A more in-depth article can be read at:

I *particularly* like the part that states:

"Along with this first rule a second one is composed of 3 conditions that one must respect: A) Speak Spanish; B) Have knowledge of the history of Mexico; C) Live with Mexican"

WOW! You mean in order to become a citizen of Mexico, I must speak the language, know the history and assimilate with the culture?!! Yet, those who are coming here, legally or otherwise, expect the U.S. to cater to them by offering everything in Spanish as well as English.

Well, now, if that isn’t interesting!

i think you have to be a minor to obtain dual citizenship, and then once you’re over 18 there’s some other process if you want to work in Mx.

If you are not born to Mexican parents it will be harder.
Also even if you recieve citizenship you will still not be able to get alot of jobs. Most government jobs are restricted only to those born in thier country.

There will have to be a special interest and reason, not merley desire.

Actually, you can’t do that, at least starting out as an American.

While it may be possible to get Mexican (or French, or English, etc.) citizenship, US law provides that if you pledge allegiance to a foreign nation, you automatically surrender your US citizenship. This applies to native-born citizens as well as naturalized citizens.

Not all countries have similar laws. If Mexican law does not provide for revocation of Mexican citizenship once becoming naturalized in another country, you’d have to start out as a Mexican citizen first to get dual nationality.
