How do I make candles out of crayons and bits of scented wax?

I am making candles for the holiday, but all i have are crayons, and these scented bits of wax. I was asking if anybody knew how to make candles out of crayons and wax without having the trouble of going to the hobby store. I was thinking about using a mug as a mold, but I don’t know if that is any good. I don’t know how to melt the wax though, but I already have the wicks. Anybody know what to do?

You can make candles from old scraps, many people enjoy doing it. Personally i think the quality isn’t as good. But it’s always good to recycle the materials that you have. You can use old crayons for you wax, plus the ’scented bits of wax’ too. But you probably wont get much fragrance from them, as you really need to add fragrance oils to the wax when its in its melted form. But you can still use the wax.

Using a mug as the mold will be fine, but you’ll need a wick. you could use wicks from old candles if you have any that are in good quality. But ideally you will need a ‘Wick Pin’ and a wick. I’m sure you could probably make a home made version with items around the house if you don’t like the other options.

When it comes to melting the wax, you need to make what is called a ‘Double Boiler’ system. This is basically a pot of boiling water, with a second pot placed inside. The second pot is where you place your wax, so that it melts. The reason we do this is so that we do not burn the wax. Burning the wax will destroy the end produce.

    Hope this helps
