How long after quitting smoking does your sense of smell return?

How long before it begins to come back, how much can I anticipate my sense of smell to increase and over what period of time?

I am a previous smoker of 6 years and in short I would like to know if my sense of smell will fully recover and how long it will take to do so.

Thanks to any who can help.

It depends on the person…It will start getting better right away. However, i hear that it takes 3 years for each year you smoked for your body to fully recover.

I think its enough that you were a smoker 6 years ago.
You should be fine as of now.

Soon after you quit, your circulation begins to improve, and your blood pressure starts to return to normal. Your sense of smell and taste return and breathing starts to become easier.

It took me about 5 weeks before I could taste or smell things. It was a revelation!

I have my story on my blog.

Your sense of smell and taste should begin to improve within 72 hours of stopping - since I quit I can certainly smell cigarette smoke a mile off.
One of those quit smoking articles or blogs like the one below might be able to give you a definitive answer.
