How many boxes of diapers and in what sizes should i have on hand? How many diaper changes a day do you usually go through with a newborn? My daughter is due December 25th. My first baby.

Aww, a Christmas baby. I was born on the 23rd of Dec, so a little advice off topic. Make sure to ALWAYS seperate your baby’s birthday and Christmas stuff. No JOINT gifts, no Christmas themed parties or gifts etc. And always give the better/bigger gifts for birthday, not Christmas. LOL. Congrats to you.
As a Newborn, expect an average of 10 -12 diaper changes a day, but it will vary a little bit. Keep in mind that some babies are born too big for Newborn diapers, and those that aren’t will most likely grow out of them quickly (not counting premies.). So don’t get too many Newborn Diapers. You can always get more if you need them. Also, DO NOT open the newborn ones until you actually need to use them. If they are unopened, most stores will exchange them for another size or brand, even without a receipt.
Size 1’s will also go fairly quick. My son was born at 7lbs4.6 oz and by 3 months, he was already in Size 2 diapers and he is on the small side. He is still in size 2’s now at 7 months old. So I would stock up on size 2’s. Most of my friends and family used more size 2’s and 3’s than any other size.
Another thing to keep in mind: You may not know what brand you prefer until baby gets here. Personally, I’ve used Huggies, Pampers BabyDry, Pampers Swaddlers, White Cloud, Luvs and Parents Choice. The only ones I’ve liked are the Pampers Swaddlers. They fit my son the best, they seem the most comfortable on him, and all the other brands had blowouts or leaks.
Be careful not to stock up too much thinking you will want to use a certain brand, because you may find that another brand works best once your baby gets here.
I wish you a quick and easy labor and a very healthy Christmas baby.
aww that’s so precious…there are like new born diaper…buy maybe three pkgs of that and you will have to change the diaper a lot in a day..i don’t know how many
about 1000000000000
It sucks to try and prepare for a baby diaper wise because it all depends on how big your baby is when she’s born. Some babies come out at 8 lbs and can only wear newborn diapers for like a month. Then you have my girl who was only 6 lbs 3 oz when she came home from the hospital…she’s almost 7 weeks now and still in newborn but will be graduating to 1s by 2 months probably.
We change her diaper probably 8-10 times a day.
Expect 8-12 diaper changes a day for the first month. It may decrease a little after that. Do not buy more then one box/package of newborn diapers, your baby will outgrow them quickly. A few boxes of size ones will last you a few weeks. Don’t go overboard. Remember to get some wipes too. A few large packages should be a good start.
i had about 3 packs of newborn diapers, and 3 packs of size 1. i would recommend buying some everytime you go shopping. if you buy them too big the baby will grow into them, and if you have too many of a smaller size you can return unopened packs. i know this isn’t part of your question, but pampers swaddlers are SO soft. they are my favorite!
I got a box of 90 and two or 3 packs of about 60 or so from my baby shower. They were size newborn, but you should prob bye newborn and size 1 b/c they grow soooo fast! My son was only 5lbs10oz when born, so he was in the newborn size for quite some time. As far as the diaper changes, maybe 7-8 a day. It’s been awhile, so I don’t really remember about how many diaper changes a day! Also, the hospital should provide you with diapers while you are there. Don’t be afraid to ask for more!!
Congrats!
Do you know how big your baby is now? Newborn diapers only go up to 10lbs I think. You don’t want to get too many of them because your baby will grow, and fast. Our baby is still in 1’s and he is 10lbs right now. I would get about 4 packs of size 1. That will surely get you through unless he/she is a small baby. Then you would need more.
Congrats and good luck.
I would buy 1 large pack of newborns until you see how big your baby is.
i would buy 2 boxes of size 1s
We were given a box of 84 Newborn size, and bought one pack ourselves after that mainly because we liked the newborn size had the little cut out for the umbilical cord stump.
We have gone through probably 3 boxes of size 1s and a couple small packs. but our baby was 7lbs at birth and is more long and skinny. She is 11.5 lbs now and we tried a sized 2 diaper and it is too big at 10 weeks.
The number of diapers will vary a day, some days we go through 10 or more.
Depending on your baby, Lilly changed out of Newborn around being one month old.
As she keeps putting on around 250 grams each week.
You should buy some of the next size up too, just to be safe
But yes, as everyone else has said, it really all depends on your baby.
my daughter was just about 9 lbs, she never fit in newborn diapers- went straight into size one. she is a month old, 10 lbs and will need size 2 shortly.
Ive used 2 packs of 200 count diapers before needing to change.
for the first couple of months you go through 8-12 diapers a day. (you start to go through less as the baby gets older). plan on having a couple weeks of newborn size on hand, and a package of size 1. you may end up going straight up to the size 1 with an older baby, but you may end up being in Newborn size for a couple of months. I always buy the biggest package size available. it’s less expensive that way and you don’t have to worry as much about running out. remember that you can exchange unopened packages for the next size up if need be.
We stocked up on Diapers during my pregnancy. We talked to other new moms (there were alot in our families just then) this is what we bought.
4 packages of newborn (we changed him ALOT the first month or so)
1 box of size 1
3 box of size 2
3 box of size 3
He’s just about 6 months we haven’t bought anymore diapers yet, just started the size 3’s and only ended up with around 15 extra size 2’s which we handed off to another new mommy. Every child is different though so depending on the birth wieght the newborns could be a waste.
io ho portato il pannolino fino a 15 anni notte e giorno
